A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency at which you have to manually vacuum. Choose a robot vacuum with good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has large bins that will need to be emptied periodically.
There are models that mop and charge themselves this is an option important for families with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests also have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it fills up.
Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off hard floors and carpets, and they are very good at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may get stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is empty it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant use. It takes three hours to charge.
2. Roomba by iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or through the app.
The i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of cordless vacs that are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an automobile. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three suction modes to suit the task being performed. It can quickly change from handheld to floor vacuum and vice versa.
This model also has docks that charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments as well as a wand clip. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical and not a remarkable time to run the battery-powered cordless vacuum. That's still enough run time to clean most of a typical-sized home, but not quite long enough to clean every spot (though the second time around usually can be effective). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on carpets with low pile.

It is prone to getting stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer parts that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistance.
