However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions like hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including getting rid of any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station and automatically emptying its debris into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning where it began. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or via the app.

The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and move around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households, but it also fits nicely on the table for a coffee or shelves where you can wave it around like the magic device.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice feature.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. It's not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series.
